We
will walk in different landscapes each day, each with a distinct theme.  We will be able to customise this itinerary
according to your specific interests. The
          holiday is exclusively yours.

           The
          daily walks can include:

           The transhumance:
Extremadura is criss-crossed by ancient drovers’ trails and we will follow one
through the open steppe-like plains, passing through patches of woodland and a
          river valley.

           Sierra de Montanchez:
This is one of the most important areas for the production of the high quality
Iberian ham and stands as a mountain range in the centre of Extremadura. The

           The dehesas:
Much of Extremadura is dominated by the ancient grazing woodlands or dehesas,
where evergreen oaks are managed to provide shade and acorns for livestock. The
dehesas have a fascinating history and offer a landscape of particular beauty.

           Wine and olives:
The Sierra de los Lagares is the range of hills where we are based for the week
at Casa Rural El Recuerdo. Walks take one through old olive groves and there
are also small vineyards. We will visit the local winery and learn more about
          the production of olives.

| Medieval heritage:
No visit to this part of Spain can miss out the opportunity of strolling in the
narrow streets of Trujillo and Cáceres, medieval towns with an extraordinary
historic heritage of occupation and conquest, manifest today in wonderful
architecture of castles, palaces and churches.
