How can one forget the star-filled sky, the smell of wood smoke, the sheep amongst the olives, the church clock, the clacking of the stork's bills, moments deep in thought, relaxing and feeling at home…

We are situated at the edge of the little village, Pago de San Clemente , close to the small church and against the gentle hills Sierra de los Lagares, just ten minutes by car from the beautiful medieval town of Trujillo . From our house, you can walk around the Sierra. Along the track you will enjoy wide views across the plains to Trujillo , west towards Cáceres and, on a clear day, the Gredos Mountains are clearly visible.

Trujillo is birthplace of several conquistadores, including Francisco Pizarro, and its old palaces stand as testament to the wealth its sons brought back from Latin America . The main square is an architectural gem and narrow cobbled streets climb up from the square, through gateways to enter the old walled town and up to the castle.

Within an hour from us you can visit the fine historic towns of Mérida (with outstanding Roman remains), medieval Cáceres, the monastery of Guadalupe and the famous national park of Monfragüe , one of the best places in Europe to see birds of prey.

The landscape is varied, from the wide open steppes, the dehesas (oak savannahs), granite outcrops, the Villuercas mountains and irrigated lands in the Guadiana valley. The traditional land use is extensive livestock production of sheep, pigs and bulls.
